Dispel, Clarify, & Reset. Eau de Floride is like a Sunday reset for the body and soul; an olfactory and spiritual refresher based on the magical and historical staple cologne, Agua de Florida (Florida Water). A fresh, aromatic floral with herbaceous tonality.
Sunstruck linens, sliced lemon, and a splash of rosewater. The uplifting chorus of cherubic neroli blossoms, plump and gorged on the sun. A sanctuary, offered by the clarity of sacred frankincense, protected by thorns and clove.
Cutting stems from the garden, your feet are grounded on the green earth, nose pointed skyward, lips parted to greet the air. You are ready for what's to come, and welcome it with arms held steady, open, and wide.
Notes of: bergamot rind, a bouquet of french lavender, heirloom garden roses, fresh herbs hung to dry, a sprinkle of dusting powder, and orange blossom. A fresh, aromatic fragrance.
Featured Botanicals—or how the magic happens: Italian bergamot, Sicilian lemon rind, French lavender, neroli, rose, clove, oakmoss, frankincense, sandalwood, and rose hydrosol
The Ritual: LVNEA Colognes can be used several ways; as perfume, home fragrance, and devotional tokens. Imbue your flesh, mane, wardrobes, or altars with the protective and purifying virtues of spiritual waters.
A Perfumed Heritage
Inspired by the Fountain of Youth and first European Eau de Colognes, Florida Water was first introduced to the North American market in 1808 by perfumer Robert I. Murray. Like other infamous ‘spirit waters’ of the times, the fragrance was promoted not only for its bright, refreshing aroma and tonic properties, but for its efficacy against a laundry list of practical and psycho-spiritual complaints. A combination of herbs and oils, it was purported to protect the body, refresh the space, and soothe the mind, as well as set intentions regarding love, luck, protection, and prosperity.
Before long, other companies began commercializing their own derivatives and duplicates under the Florida Water label, adding to the perfume's sensational notoriety. Its prevalence within the 19th century American household also made it a covert, readily accessible spiritual tool for enslaved folks whose ancestral practices were being suppressed, particularly in the South. It can still be found at your local druggists’ today, as well as in the homes of spiritual practitioners of manifold denominations, making Florida Water an integral part of magical, olfactory, and American history.
