Cypriol oil is extracted from Cyperus scariosus, also known by its Hindi name Nagarmotha, a type of sedge in the Cyperaceae family. It is a perennial herbaceous riverbed plant native to India's Madhya Pradesh state, closely related to Cyperus papyrus, the plant from which the earliest type of paper was made. The plant is mentioned in the ancient Ayurvedic medicine texts, and is used extensively in traditional Chinese medicine and perfumery.

The oil is an amber-coloured or light brown viscous liquid of a rich, woody-earthy and very tenacious odour.

It is traditionally used in aromatherapy to improve circulation, promote peace of mind and encourage calm and restful sleep, and in perfumery as a substitute for patchouli. Like vetiver, it has been used in India to scent saris and other clothing.

It blends well with bergamot, cassie, cedar wood, clary sage, frankincense, galbanum, labdanum, mimosa, myrrh, oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, and vetiver.

Type: herbaceous
Note: base or middle
Characteristics: diffusive, dry, woody, slightly spicy
Subsidiary notes and nuances: peppery, smoky, leathery

Presented in a 5ml or 15ml black glass bottle with a euro dropper.

Do not ingest essential oils or apply them internally, and avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and consult a knowledgeable health practitioner before use when pregnant or breastfeeding.
