LVNEA (pronounced loo-nay-uh) is an independent, natural perfumery located on the unceded lands of the Kanien'kehá:ka Nation commonly referred to as Montréal. Founded in 2013, we were blessed with the support of scent-enthusiasts who’ve helped nurture us from a sapling, at-home endeavour to a brick and mortar studio and storefront, where every scent is still crafted in-house in small batches to this day.
This is April Lea (she/her);
founder, perfumer, and magic maker—a multidisciplinary artist rooted in the fertile soil of the do-it-yourself counterculture. LVNEA was born from her ardent passion for the natural world and the desire to honour ancient perfumery traditions while challenging the conventions of modern fragrance.
Every LVNEA fragrance begins with ethically sourced raw materials carefully chosen each year, including a growing number of in-house artisanal extracts. The subtle variations between batches reveals their botanical origins—living materials that dictate their own timeline. We honour these natural rhythms by never rushing our process, instead allowing each composition to unfold according to its own cadence. We keep to the path of natural perfumery because working with ancient spirits and keeping historical techniques alive makes our hearts flutter.
We believe that the world of perfumery is inherently political; customs from ancient times immortalized through sacred/cultural rites and everyday practices of self-care, beauty, and pleasure. Working with natural essences binds us to their diverse histories and wholly implicates us in the welfare of the land and peoples who’ve historically developed the art of scent. Our struggles are interconnected.
No one is illegal on stolen land and safety is a fundamental human right.
Join us in a perfume journey that anchors you in the present moment, walks you through memories long past, and accompanies you as you craft your future self. We’re honoured to travel this path together.
