PEPPER, BLACK ESSENTIAL OIL | Pure Plant Extract
Pure Piper nigrum essential oil from India.
Black pepper essential oil is extracted from the dried berries of the Piper nigrum plant, a climbing flowering vine cultivated for its fruit known as a peppercorn. The vine is native to present-day Kerala in Southwestern India. Ground dried and cooked peppercorns have been used since antiquity both for flavour and as traditional medicine. Black pepper is the world's most traded spice and is one of the most common spices used in cuisines around the world.
The oil is a thin, colourless to pale greenish-grey liquid with a sharp, fresh, dry-woody, warm-spicy scent faintly reminiscent of clove.
In perfumery, it is used in minute quantities to pique the interest with the top (opening) notes of the perfume and to add depth to the composition. It particularly offers interesting nuances to floral.
It is traditionally used in aromatherapy to sharpen mental faculties and energize the body, and in magic, for protection and courage.
It blends well with bergamot, clary sage, clove bud, coriander, fennel, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, juniper, lemon, lime, mandarin, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang.
