The corn doll—a somewhat misleading moniker, thanks to the (mostly North-American) use of the word "corn", meaning cereal grain, for what is called maize—is a persisting, multicultural tradition wherein the final grains of the harvest season are fashioned into intricate effigies and life-like dolls.
The dolls can serve as temporary hosts for displaced harvest spirits come wintertime, or as uncanny reminders that life taken is life owed when reaped without respect.
