Holy basil, also known as tulsi, is a type of basil native to the Indian subcontinent. It is sacred to Hindus, and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years for its adaptogenic properties
It is traditionally used to reduce stress and calm the mind without causing drowsiness, as well as for increasing memory and cognitive function. It is a powerful antimicrobial agent. It may also have aphrodisiac qualities related to uplifting mood.
